Built in 1929, the Villa is special for a number of reasons. The most obvious is its Mediterranean design-a unique choice for the original owners, who seemed little influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement of the period. When the house was sold in the 1960’s to a prominent wildlife artist, he embellished the property with concrete inground pool, stone footpaths, fruit trees, flowers and edible herbs. The result is a feast for the eyes that renders the home as much Tuscan villa as Catskills farmhouse. In addition to four guest suites, the charming two-story B&B and rental home features common spaces that forego typical Victorian décor, in favor of 20th Century Modern furniture. The Villa’s guest rooms are tastefully decorated with individual style. All quarters are equipped with air conditioning, satellite television, wireless internet, a newly renovated private bathroom and a plush queen-size bed dressed in 350-thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. The fifth room called ‘the studio’ is the largest and most secluded room, also the most luxurious. Simple pleasures such as his and her robes, a mini stainless refrigerator, microwave, DVD player, CD alarm clock, coffee maker and an impressive concrete shower with a 10” rainshower head make this unforgettable. The Studio room is found in the back barn where owners quarters are housed, this space is also cool and contemporary, like the rest, but with the added drama of cathedral ceilings and modern steps leading to the glass walled loft area. Turnkey operation, wonderful business, wonderful home.
