Gabriola Island is the most accessible of the southern Gulf Islands, with a ferry running hourly from Nanaimo to Gabriola. The island has nearly everything you need – a shopping centre with a large food market and drug store, a credit union, dentist, doctors, gas station, all construction trades, volunteer fire department, hardware store, lumber yard, several restaurants, a museum and even a movie theatre. For the big box stores, Nanaimo is just a 20 minute ferry ride away. Gabriola is called the “Isle of the Arts”, and has many resident artists, some of whom are internationally known.
The B&B portion of the house is on the main floor, with owners’ residence upstairs with 2 bedrooms , a 2 piece ensuite in the master bedroom, a full bathroom, and a great room. A spacious deck runs most of the way across the front of the house. Skylights in the kitchen and main bathroom, and abundant large windows provide plenty of light, and give a sunny, airy ambiance. The garden gazebo offers a cool secluded spot for a glass of wine on a warm afternoon, or a quiet retreat with a good book. With the beautiful view and the peaceful and quiet location, living in this home is truly like living in a resort. The price includes the furniture in the B&B rooms and guest sitting room including the computer, 2 inflatable kayaks, 2 bicycles, rattan furniture in the gazebo, 4 wooden Adirondack chairs (made on Gabriola), all linens and towels, a 12,000 watt automatic generator with an ample propane tank, 6 appliances - the Jennair stove (a dual with 5 propane elements and 2 electric ovens) is brand new , as is the built in Jennair microwave. There is a large heated workshop behind the house which contains the cistern, plenty of storage space and ample room for hobbies or a studio.
