A short drive from the beautiful Kalapana "new" black sand beach, a result of the Kilauea lava flow. Take the "red road to the turquoise blue waters of Kehena Beach. Watch for dolphins, sea turtles and whales during winter, travel thru tropical rainforest to MacKenzie State Recreation Area, Issac Hale Beach Park, swim, surf, or catch the lava boat to view the current lava flow into the ocean then to Ahalanui Warm Springs for a relaxing dip and snorkeling at Kapoho Tide Pools. Quite an amazing experience.
