Here is a great opportunity for the right people.... if you've thought about getting into the Hospitality business, the Accommodations business, the Bed & Breakfast business, or if you are looking for a different kind of in-home business to make a little extra cash, here's something to consider:
Mary's Guesthouse is a well-established accommodations business that caters to visitors to this beautiful Victorian adventure town of Jim Thorpe, PA - 90 minutes northwest of Philadelphia. It is modeled after European lodgings, so it's not the typical American B&B or motel. And that makes it easier to run (and more rewarding). Mary's has a track record of almost 10 seasons (2004-2013) of accommodating guests from all over the world, and helping people have a nice time during their visit to this awesome town. Hundreds of entries in our guestbook attest to the great location, comfy accommodations, homey atmosphere and helpfulness that our guests enjoy. As an affordable, family-friendly lodging place, we have made it possible for thousands of people to visit Jim Thorpe, who may have otherwise been 'priced out' of staying overnight. We also have helped them enjoy their visit more, by offering advice on things to do, places to go, restaurants to fit their appetite and budget, directions to/from other places, etc. We make sure everyone has a good time here in Jim Thorpe and especially during their time at Mary's Guesthouse. Check out the business at www.marysjimthorpe.com and you can read all about the place and us. You will get a feel for what we provide people, and how this accommodations differs from others. We have truly loved starting and growing the business, but after 9+ years of service to our guests and the town, we need to pass the torch onto some 'new blood' and are looking for the right people to continue this business into the future.
There are several reasons we need to transition ourselves out of the business and someone else in - most of it is actually unrelated to the business itself. It is another part of our lives that is taking us away and we cannot devote the necessary time to Mary's.
If you have ever dreamed of having your own little place where people come and stay, this may be it. If you love to help people have a good time, here's a way. If you want a chance to grow a business, but don't have a ton of investment capital, this may be a way to get started.
This opportunity would be great for a couple where one person goes to work and the other needs something part-time and home-based.
We can talk finances when you contact us, but here's the basic situation. We feel it's best to make a complete change of ownership/management at one time. So we're looking to sell the business to someone who will take it into the future. We'll be selling the real estate, the furnishings of the guesthouse, the website, the current marketing, and anything else that is associated with the operation. We will make it a good deal, so it's possible for the business 'to work.'
The town of Jim Thorpe is an awesome place to live - it has it all! A beautiful downtown is surrounded by picturesque mountains with the Lehigh River cutting through at the edge of town. In the downtown are almost a dozen restaurants, a couple pubs, about 40 shops of all kinds, plus historic and cultural attractions such as art galleries/studios, an Opera House with concerts every other weekend, museums and tours. All the necessities are here, too - banks, post office, library, convenience stores, newsstand, coffee shops, beer distributor and supermarket. There are hiking and biking trails nearby, a lake just a few miles away, and many parks in the area. The best part is that most of these things are WALKABLE from Mary's Guesthouse.
