The home remained in the Cass family until 1945, with various owners, including Sheriff Carl Black, until the Sosnoys bought it in 1986. They spent two years in restoration and opened as a museum in 1988. Rosalind Brinkley owned the home from 2001 untill 2011. I was a popular wedding venue and Bed and Breakfast at that time. Over the many years, the home was also used as a restaurant. The home has much appeal as both commercial and residential applications.

Synopisis of comments by Stan Graves, restoration architect, of the Texas Historical Commission:
"Re: Dr Nathan and Lula Cass "Ne Plus Ultra" House: In a wood frame Victorian home of this scale, I have never seen before a combination of (1) wood paneling on the outside porches, (2) Screwed versus nailed window, door, ceiling, and corner moldings, (3) wide variety of flora nad fauna corner blocks (vs. traditional bulls-eyes) and (4) exquisite woodwork throughout the home. It's what you would ezpec in a Vanderbilt mansion."
