HISTORY OF THE PROPERTY

Operated for eight seasons as one of the finest coastal inns in Down East Mane with a reputation for providing superb food, exceptional hospitality, exceptional service, the inn is positioned to retain and expand its well deserved reputation.

Lovingly restored to its original Federal-style splendor, Chadbourne House is inviting and comfortable. Furnished throughout with antiques and traditional decor. Most furnishings convey.

The building and property are well maintained and in pristine condition. Built in 1821 on a stone foundation, its wooden frame with clapboard siding has a mix of new thermal pane and conventional storm and screen windows.

A new composite shingle roof was installed in 2004. The attached, heated two-car garage with work area offers additional storage.

Access to the full, unfinished, dry basement with ledge and dirt floor is via a bulkhead on the brick patio or from inside the building.

The mature flower and herb gardens surrounding the house and patio are well maintained and are a lovely addition to the property's "curb appeal."

The driveway and parking areas are paved and lined with room for five+ vehicles.

The Chadbourne House offers an expansive 740 square foot double parlor on the first floor that speaks of a bygone era of refined entertaining and hospitality. It is a light-filled, comfortable space for gathering, conversation, reading, watching TV or relaxing by the twin fireplaces. This room could easily by partitioned into two rooms for extra dining space.

In close proximity to the gourmet kitchen is a pantry with an auxilliary refrigerator and an ice machine. The laundry room has a pair of Bosch front loading washer and dryer and a cleaning sink.

All four guest rooms have en-suite bathrooms, comfortable sitting areas and ceiling fans. They have been extensively renovated and tastefully decorated with new high end traditional furniture, antiques and oriental rugs. The beds feature new pillow top quality mattresses and bedding.
