Woodstock Lifestyle Opportunity For Sale

The Wild Rose Inn has become the go-to host for VIP’s, celebrities, discerning travelers since opening for business in 1998 at this historic residence located at the foot of Overlook Mountain.

Fifth generation innkeeper Marti Ladd renovated the premises with an eye to classic style details and contemporary amenities that suit today’s traveler. The Wild Rose Inn is the only inn-town B&B to offer 6 antique-filled guest suites with modern amenities, a luxurious owner’s penthouse, a legendary conversation porch, live koi water garden and an in-ground saline swimming pool. In a small town famous for it’s ‘hippie’ culture, this Inn delivers the romance of a bygone era in an exquisite garden environment.

THE WILD ROSE INN - Bed and Breakfast, enjoys a solid reputation of gracious hospitality and goodwill in the heart of Woodstock, New York. The award-winning Victorian inn, built in 1898 has a stately ‘painted lady’ presence on attractively landscaped grounds. Antique maple trees surround the manicured grounds, perennial flower beds and herb garden. The inn’s signature colors of burgundy and pink are a tasty choice for the original gingerbread trim.

The “white mansion”, as it was called in 1898, stands on the former John Wigram estate. Turn of the century owner Calvin Short began converting the massive red barns at the Lower Brydcliff crossroads into studios for the colorful artists of the Rock City movement - an off-shoot of bohemians from Ralph Whitehead’s utopian Byrdcliff colony.

The Wild Rose Inn has carried forward it’s capacity to accommodate the vibrant artists that make up today’s ‘Colony of the Arts’. Though a century has past since Wigram Lane was renamed Rock City Road - not for the rock and roller’s that have left their indelible mark, but for the soils proliferation of bluestone, creative types like writers, musicians and performing artists find sought-after privacy and inspiration under this roof.

The main floor has 10 ft. ceilings for 5 guest rooms each with a private bathroom. Each room is meticulously appointed with antique furnishings for
sophisticated comfort. The common dining room seats 8, therefore a buffet style breakfast with small appliances makes the most use of the space. Convenient lobby wet/bar is central to the first floor which includes farm style porcelain sink, custom appliances (d/w and refrigerator) behind solid cherry cabinets, and an instant hot water tap for tea lover’s completes the common area.

The center hall stairs lead to a second-floor with convertible use of space. A 6th guest room suite with spa style bathroom equipped with steam room and double whirlpool tub can provide additional income or innkeeper can simply maintain an elegant 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. As bed and breakfasts go, The Wild Rose Inn boasts very spacious and comfortable owner’s quarters on the second floor. It’s not hard to see a new owner having the flexibility to open the main kitchen, which is currently off limits to guests, for cooking classes.

The master bedroom, with 17’ cathedral ceiling and stained glass accents has a modern bathroom with coffered wood ceiling, glass shower, Euro tankless toilet and bidet which adjoins second bedroom. Innkeepers apartment is completely separate from guest quarters and is highlighted by several key features including a light filled open-plan office, second floor Florida room with year-round treetop views, dining room balcony offering mountain views, as well as a bay-shaped den with original wood board flooring.

Importantly, this grand building is in absolutely top condition. From the new radiant heat coils in the gutter system, to a brand new Generac backup power system - maintenance is impeccable and all the behind-the-scenes mechanical systems are up to date.
