Spring brings Trilliums blooming and a green so vivid you know the meaning of the great Northwest. Summer brings tourists from around the world who say "wow what an amazing place you live in". Paradise Wildflower season is one in ten places in the country to get out of your car at 5400 feet and feel like you are in the Sound of Music. Fall greets with the hunt for Chanterelles, amazing colors, the small wildlife all scurrying to cut cones and black bears feasting to consume as much as they can for the slumber to come. Winter is quiet catching up on projects, crafts, an occasional snow shoe adventure or cross country skiing outing; or perhaps a trip to the high country to cut a Christmas Tree or an afternoon of inner-tubing at Paradise. Evening brings a warm fire, good book or movie.
Ashford has lots of independent people with a strong ladies presence in the hospitality business. Super friendly, community oriented, and a great K-8 school! Elbe, 6 miles away, is a major junction for East/West travelers and the Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad.
