This bed and breakfast has historic charm and modern conveniences. Built in 1870, this B & B was part of the J.W. Howard Estate. J.W. Howard came to Corry from Wellsville, NY to establish the JW & AP Howard Tannery, which became known for its finest leathers in the country. The Tannery was established in 1867and the stately home came soon after. The home was built by European contractors from Sweden, most likely Masons. J.W. died December 10th 1896, he was highly respected by his employees and community known as an honest generous person. The estate was owned by several family members of the Howard family. The Taggert family was the last family to own and operate the Tannery, in 1946 there was a large fire that destroyed the Tannery. The property was split up and in 1961 Millie and Ralph Eastman purchased the home, raising foster children along with their 4 boys. In 1999 we purchased the home. When we started renovating some of the bedrooms we decided to start naming the rooms after people who had previously owned the home. The Taggert family had shared so many stories and loving memories of this home with us I knew that the next room would be the Lady Taggert room. This “Big Red House” as my grandkids lovingly call her has been in the Eastman family for over 50 years, we too have made great memories to be shared. This home is meant to be enjoyed and what better way that to be shared with enjoyable conversation at breakfast or relax with a good book on the large wrap around porch.

A large front porch, enclosed side porch, and gazebo adorn the exterior. Inside, the pocket doors and wood floors are original to the house. There are beautiful hardwood floors in the foyer, first and second floor, living and dining rooms and six of the seven bedrooms.. There are a total of 7 bedrooms and 6 1/2 baths. The owners' quarters consist of 1 bedroom with a large adjoining bath and two other rooms: a living room and a family room/office/utility room. The owners' quarters have private entry. The large kitchen has hand-made cabinets, a large island, a commercial stove, and plenty of built-in cabinetry for storage. There is also a large laundry room on the first floor near the kitchen. There is a storage building at the rear of the property near a private parking area. A full basement has outside entry. Heating is provided by 2 separate furnaces by hot water heat. Two hot water heaters service the inn. The inn is located within close proximity to Peak n Peek Ski and Golf Resort, and Chautauqua Institute. . We have a mix of business and leisure travelers as guests. We are perfect for small weddings, receptions, showers and other special events. Our large lawn lends itself well to outdoor events. We are considered one of the outstanding properties in our area. The inn is the right size for a one or two-person management operation, and there is substantial income potential. If a buyer is interested in also providing lunch and dinner to the public, the demand is there for such a service. Negotiable. Will sell real estate and furnishings separately.
