H. Orvel Sebring House
Sebring, FL
This is not an active listing. Please visit the inns for sale page to search our active listings.
The H. Orvel Sebring house was built in 1919 by the co-founder of the city of Sebring, FL. It is within walking distance to the historic downtown and a vibrant artist village and community theatre as well as less than a mile to an Amtrak station. Sebring is located 67 miles from Disney World in Orlando
It has great bed and breakfast potential with 4 bedrooms in the main house and a separate detached guest house containing a studio unit. The property is just over an acre and is zoned multi-family allowing up to 12 units per acre. The house is located on Lake Jackson which is a premier water sports lake in Highlands County. A basement (rare in Florida) contains a wine cellar and could be expanded to allow for a media room. The double fireplace and original hard wood floors and woodwork throughout are magnificent. The pool area features direct western views over the lake and would make a perfect sunset wedding venue.
There have only been three owners of this beautiful historic property since 1919. The Sebring family owned it until 1984, it was a winter residence for 10 years and we purchased it in 1994 and raised our family here. It is built from red clay tile, cypress and heart of pine which makes it structurally sound while retaining it’s historic charm. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and qualifies for local grant funding on an annual basis for exterior improvements.
I will be glad to provide photos and information on the area. This property is not currently set up to operate as a bed and breakfast but could easily be converted.
