Original construction of the property took place c1784. Originally it was a Mercantile Business and private residence for owner George Gracie. It served as a private home, a rental and when it became an Inn in the mid 1980’s it was also run as a respected Restaurant. Meal inquiries are not uncommon, even after 15 years.

Rooms are named for previous owners and the years of ownership is displayed on the entry doors. In 1996 the attic of the Inn was architecturally redesigned into the present day Harbour Suite. Its Award Winning Architect Design is represented as an efficient, self-contained and comfortable apartment. Currently, owners or managers accommodations are on the main level.

Each of the 8 rooms has an ensuite bath, private entry, flat screen TV, WiFi, coffee makers, comfortable seating and recently acquired quality bedding. Each room enjoys Shelburne Harbour views. The Breakfast Room comfortably seats 14 guests simultaneously. There is sleeping accommodation for up to 18 guests. Free off street parking is situated directly beside the enclosed garden area. Numerous eateries and attractions are located in a very comfortable walking area. The Cooper’s Inn is ‘where history meets hospitality’. New Innkeepers will benefit from the established confidence. Improvements and maintenance are ongoing, as one would expect of a 233+ year old home. A new Garden Shed is complete and a new Garden Fence enclosure was completed in 2017.

The Inn’s Garden and Patio area draws the awe of new and returning guests from year to year. The Inn’s off street parking is assured by a long-term agreement with the Town of Shelburne.

Though it’s the only Inn B&B in the community, nothing is taken for granted. Care is taken to assure the highest reasonable standards.

Guests appreciate that B&B is not simply defined by its Beds; the Breakfasts are every bit as important. A traditional menu selection offers something for virtually every need and desire. Local ingredients are used as much as reasonably possible.

Short walks take guests to many local highlights including 3 museums, numerous restaurants and a world-class harbour. Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club is one of only 3 in Nova Scotia that is open year round. There is also a very popular sailing school in the summer months for all interest and age levels.

Shelburne proudly boasts the ‘most original pre 1800 wooden structures’ of any town in Canada and arguably North America.
