Perched on a hill overlooking the town of Flint Hill, this fabulous Fabulous Event Space, Restaurant and Inn is an entrepreneur’s dream. The property has a rich history. In the late 1800s it was home to a small one room schoolhouse. As the surrounding population outgrew the capabilities of this small building, local residents decided to build a new schoolhouse and in 1906 the current structure was erected. In 2011, the restaurant was purchased by two local businessmen with a vision to create a fine country restaurant with several luxury suites for guests. They hired noted DC architect, Ernesto Santalla, to redesign and renovate the building. The complete renovation took the building down to the bare studs as the entire structure was updated for modern amenities while ensuring the building retained its historic charm.

With tall ceilings, both rooms feel quite bright and airy. The back half of the main building is reserved for a comfortable bar that easily spills out to the back patio and the expansive lawn behind the building as well as a great kitchen. The kitchen was designed by C&T Design out of Waynesboro and is a dream to work in. The upstairs was renovated into four luxury suites with a comfortable sitting area available to all overnight guests. The Washington Suite offers a stunning view of the grounds and gardens. The suite overlooks the back patio and sleeps up to 4 guests. The Wakefield Suite also sleeps 4 guests and overlooks the front yard. The sitting area in this suite features a small desk for those who have to work while they are on vacation. The Amissville and Sperryville Suites also look out at the front lawn and have accommodations for up to 4 guests. Between the four guest suites, there is a comfortable sitting area (perfect for relaxing before dinner). In order to provide greater convenience for guests, the guests suites are all accessible through an exterior stairwell. The balance of the second floor is a comfortable office for the inn manager.

Perhaps the best part of the entire property are the ample grounds. A broad front lawn (which can be used for overflow parking during large events) flows out in front of the restaurant. Behind the restaurant is a large flat back lawn which has been the home to many great events. This space is entirely enclosed with a single point of access eliminating the need for additional ABC permitting for special events. A permanent pavilion is available for everyday use by patrons who want to enjoy the fresh air or can be re purposed as a bandstand for events. The rest of the back lawn can be reconfigured for many large tents or left as open festival grounds. The current owners have had events with as many as 750 people on the grounds. A large swath of the backyard has been turned into gardens for the restaurant (and customer enjoyment). The garden has been segmented into three distinct sections so new seasonal produce can always be available for the restaurant. The opportunities at this unique property are boundless.
