The Inn at Westwood has a well established reputation for being a relaxed retreat for guests and an excellent venue for weddings and other special occasions. Located in historic Orange County, Virginia it is less than two miles from President James Madison’s home, Montpelier. The Inn is convenient to the Washington DC area and points north as well as Richmond. Their guests have come from all corners of the world.
The Inn is 45 minutes from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and in close proximity to many VA wineries, festivals, historic attractions and National Parks. The Inn at Westwood has been in operation since 2007 and consistently receives 5-star ratings on TripAdvisor, Yelp and other travel and wedding sites. This is an established business with a history of welcoming customers new and old.
The property was part of the nearby Oakley plantation and was called “the west wood,” hence the name given to the home built there in 1910. Reputed to be the first home in Orange County built to include in-door plumbing, the house has been renovated and expanded over the years, the latest occuring in 2007 when the current owners envisioned it as a B&B. The charm of the turn of the 20th century home was maintained in the expansion, with a heavy reliance on reclaimed lumber for the flooring and woodwork. There are four guest bedrooms upstairs, three of which are ensuite and one utilizing a separate bath in the hall. The quality and finishes throughout the Inn are excellent, as can be seen in the pictures. In addition to the bedrooms, there is a library and small media room on the second floor. Currently used as storage, a large attic provides space for expansion and storage.
The expansive country front porch is a favorite spot for guests to kick-back and relax. The front door opens to an entrance hall flanked by the main staircase and pocket doors leading to the living room and the dining room. The dining room has windows on two walls providing for great light and with views of the side and back gardens. The well-appointed kitchen is a perfect size for this small Bed and Breakfast, where the professional appliances do not detract from the warm character of this friendly gathering spot.
A hallway off the kitchen leads to the Innkeepers quarters with a large laundry room, office, bedroom and bath. This area has its own private entrance and porch.
The 15+/- acres included gardens, two paddocks, chicken coop and a charming barn, which the current owners utilize as a wedding venue during the warmer months.
