Located in Lavonia, Georgia, a small historic town of 2500 residents, yet only 9/10 of a mile south of I-85 on busy state route 17 and midway between Greenville, SC and Atlanta. The area has grown steadily with the addition of international corporations in the fringe areas.
Known historically as the Ray-Cheek house and given the name Southern Oaks because of the many vintage oaks trees, started life in 1918 as a private home and business office for the Charles Ray family. A major renovation project was completed in 1997 - 1998 to bring the property back to its original elegance. Southern Oaks was run as a restaurant and B&B from 1998 - 2003 but due to need for long term rental units for incoming personnel for at the new factories, it was decided to move Southern Oaks to a more progressive income stream of monthly rental units and the addition of weddings and events. The main house has approximately 2500 square feet of event and commercial kitchen space on the main level and 2500 square feet of living space on the second level. Upgrades include new metal roof, all new commercial stainless kitchen, carpet and or refinished floors.
The rental units are in two adjacent buildings that include 7 units each and 1 unit in each building used for storage but easily finished as two additional units. All 14 units have been completely renovated with new carpet, heat pumps, refrigerators, micro waves, and flat screen tv's. Call for additional information.
