Locally known as “The Pride of Andrews”, The Cozad-Cover House, built circa 1905, is an imposing two-and-half story gable-roof frame home which effectively combines traditional and modern elements.

The home was built for/by the Cozad family who owned a substantial tract in Andrews early in the twentieth century. Developer and builder, Cozad erected several large gracious homes in the area. In 1918 The Cozad House was sold to Samuel Cover of F. P. Cover & Sons Tannery. He made some modifications to the rear of the home, which may have been sun porches, which later became part of upstairs bedroom and, in 1938, a bathroom. It remained in the Cover family until the death of Frances Cover in 1999. This special glimpse of history is built on a beautifully landscaped 4.43-acre knoll overlooking the charming and authentically Appalachian town of Andrews and offers the old small-town flavor now all but lost in America.

The current owners have painstakingly renovated this gorgeous property and brought it up to today’s standards. Although the owners have not done so, the property could be listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
Centrally located to the Nantahala River gorge and five pristine mountain lakes, a sportsman’s paradise, this property is easy, in-easy out, no cliff climbing, and Andrews also boasts one of the area’s most accessible private airports.

This beautiful oasis consists of 7,800 square feet spread across a 5 BR/4BA main house [4,746 approx. SF], a 3 BR/2BA guest house complimenting it, built in 1895 [3,057 approx. SF], a carriage house, 2 car detached garage, large chicken coop/storage facility, and adorable original playhouse with attached glassed-in potting shed. The 4+ acres of landscaped grounds have potential for more cottages & amenities should you choose to add them, and plenty of space for toy storage. Currently, the guest house consists of two apartments, but the home can be made into one home again very easily.

The wrap-around front porch will have you basking in the aura of a near 360-degree mountain view of the Nantahala, Snowbird, and Valley River mountain ranges. Turn off your cell phone and computer, have some tea or a meal on the screened sun porch off the kitchen…. or just do nothing but enjoy the sounds of nature and mountain air at its finest!

You will love the hardwood floors, sunken tubs, fine appointments, and grand staircase.

There was once a widow’s walk on the front of the main home. It was removed when the Inn was reroofed, but the owner kept all the components for you to have it restored once again should you like to do so.

The garden space is amazing! The owners grow all their own vegetables including potatoes, garlic, onions, and herbs and did lots of canning and preserving all to be seen in the immaculately maintained huge basement and root cellar. You will also find a potential wine room.

The property is unrestricted to allow for chickens if you choose to have them, and there is a small koi pond near the gazebo in back. The entire property is on town water/sewer. No septic tanks or wells to maintain. There are five fireplaces. One is gas logs, the others can be converted to allow for wood stove inserts if you so desire.

A B&B for 12 of the last 20 years, with its convenient location on Main St, this magnificent property could easily be returned into a successful destination venue for weddings, a vacation or corporate retreat or much more! Walk to downtown Andrews and the local brewery and antique shops! If a business venture does not appeal to you, this turn-key property is perfect for a large family, complete with in-law home.

Please view Trip Advisor with B&B reviews from when it was in operation.

The property is sold as-is, unfurnished, by appointment only. Prior to showings, listing agent must receive proof of funds and/or prequalification of financing and will accompany you or your agent to the appointment.
