The River House Inn bed & Breakfast is located in Snow Hill, Maryland, an historic riverfront town. The Inn sits on 2+ landscaped acres along the navigable, scenic Pocomoke River. Centrally located in Maryland’s lower Eastern Shore, the Inn is a short drive from Ocean City, MD and Assateague Island National Seashore. The River House Inn is comprised of a grand 19th century main inn and three (3) modern cottages, with a total of 10 guest rooms and suites. The grounds are level and dotted with shade trees making a lovely setting for weddings and group events. The Inn is less than 3 hours from Washington, DC, Baltimore, MD and Norfolk, VA – ideal for romantic getaways. The small walkable town has a museum, restaurants, shops and river outfitters. Guests can canoe or kayak right from the Inn’s dock, relax by the swimming pool or easily explore an abundance of Eastern Shore activities by car.

The River House Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a fine example of the Gothic Revival style. There are 4 large guest rooms on the second floor, all with private bathrooms. Common rooms (on the first floor) include 2 twin dining rooms, a spacious living room and a pub-style breakfast room. All common rooms feature original fireplaces. The large kitchen is fully equipped with commercial appliances. Adjoining the kitchen is a private living room for the innkeepers, with access to a deck overlooking the swimming pool. Past the swimming pool, garden paths lead to the 3 cottages:

2-story Cypress House has 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms and a great room featuring a fully equipped kitchen.

River Cottage is a large king suite featuring a spa tub and a private screened porch.

Waterfront Cottage has 2 large king suites, on separate floors, featuring large porches overlooking the river.

Snow Hill, Maryland, is a port town, founded by English settlers in 1686. The port thrived through the 19th century, leaving a legacy of preserved 18th and 19th architecture. The Pocomoke River is wide and deep at Snow Hill, flowing 30 miles southwest to the Chesapeake Bay. Thousands of protected Nature Conservancy and State Forest acres line the scenic shoreline, and miles of hiking trails are close at hand. Excellent canoeing, fishing and bird watching can be enjoyed right from the River House Inn. River House Inn is midway between Maryland’s popular Atlantic beaches to the east and Chesapeake Bay activities to the west, making it an excellent base for exploring the Delmarva Peninsula and the Chesapeake Bay Eastern Shore.
