The Inn at Ellsworth Estate was originally built as a private residence in 1915 for James MacDonald and his Hailey bride, Beulah Lamb. MacDonald's father was the Director of Standard Oil in London and a partner of John D. Rockefeller. The builder,Jack Rutter, constructed many of the buildings in historic 19th century boomtown town of Hailey, some of which are still standing today, such as the Liberty Theatre, Hailey Hotel, and the Masonic Lodge. MacDonald's house was one of his first major projects in the valley. Remodeled as a B&B in the 80’s this historic 3 story, Inn once served as a Mormon church. Each room is unique and lovely with private bathrooms, a/c and TVs, and owners quarters. The estate offers cozy lounge areas with fireplaces and a large patio to enjoy the mountain views. Nearby activities include fine dining, hiking, biking, white water rafting and beautiful hot springs. Hailey, ID is an inviting community in the Wood River Valley is surrounded by the Sawtooth National Forest is fast becoming a mecca for tourists. Hailey is also is the site of the airport for the resort area of Sun Valley, Friedman Memorial Airport.
