Described as a "mountain sanctuary" by guests, the Buck House Inn has run as a popular B&B since 2012, winning TripAdvisor’s Prestigious Travelers Choice award, which recognizes the top 25 Inn's in the country. The Buck House Inn also had a two-page feature in Our State magazine in April of 2021!

Sitting just below Big Bald Mountain, the Inn is just 45 minutes north of Asheville, NC, a few miles from the Tennessee state line and the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a short drive to the charming town of Burnsville, which offers a host of quaint shopping and eateries, with a winery nearby.

Upon exiting your car, the first thing your guests will hear is the rushing water of Bald Mountain Creek, which runs for 1,000 feet through the property. For guests who love to fly fish, the is stocked (April-July) with Brown, Brook and Rainbow trout!

For those who love history, this home and the surrounding area have tales to tell! Built in 1904 w/non-wormy chestnut from the surrounding land, The Buck House served as the hub of the logging community that existed around 1905 and is named after the original owners, David & Pearl Buck. David served in the NC General Assembly & entertained many dignitaries in this home. Many Buck descendants still live nearby and are happy to share rich stories of their time spent here as children.

Completely restored in 2008, The Buck House and four additional buildings on the property are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The additional buildings are original to the property, and include an old general store, a spring house, apple shed and woodshed.

Sitting on 7.5 beautiful rolling acres of lush pasture, the property offers several perfect settings for events, such as weddings, retreats or reunions, with plenty of space for event parking.

Surrounded by 720 acres of conservation land w/ miles of hiking & quiet walking trails, guests have many additional diverse activity options, such as skiing, golf, horseback riding, or just relaxing on the wrap-around porch in one of the many rocking chairs or porch swings. In addition to the activities on the mountain, there are activities and adventures for your guests in nearby towns, including biking, whitewater rafting, ziplining, canoeing, kayaking, or antiquing and shopping.

A step inside this stunning home brings you face to face with gorgeous chestnut walls and ceilings that truly set this home apart. The first floor features a master suite with full bath, as well as a large gourmet kitchen with a large island, double convection oven, under-counter icemaker, walk-in pantry and tons of cabinet storage and laundry facility. Adjacent to the kitchen, the chestnut-lined dining area with a fireplace can sit up to 16, with additional seating just outside on the veranda overlooking the serene pasture and the gently flowing creek. The second floor boasts a large open foyer where guests can help themselves to a hot beverage day or night at the coffee bar, or sit in the game nook for a round of chess. There are also four En suite bedrooms and an office that can be converted to another bedroom.

The third floor owners suite features 850sf of open space featuring pine ceilings, a full kitchen, large bedroom, walk in closet and a quaint reading nook that overlooks the front gardens. This private space is truly an inn keepers dream!
