In 1966 the family gifted their spacious home to Wayland Baptist University to serve as the private residence of their presidents. There is a beautiful, large front porch with regal columns that make this home a statement. The front and back yards have lush green grass and established trees. The back yard has been used for many large gatherings and events and is a perfect location for an outdoor party, or even a wedding. The house is currently set up to be equipped with wireless internet and cable television. Common areas of the house are quite large and perfect to hold gatherings of any kind. There is a comfortable den area as well as a large formal living room with multiple different seating options, as well as enough space to set up tables if needed for a party or gathering. Located centrally between the den and living room is the large formal dining room with extended bar that is perfect for buffet services during meals. The beautiful entryway of this home gives access to the staircase leading to upstairs rooms, and there is a separate back staircase leading upstairs as well.
The President’s House is equipped with a large, easy-to-maneuver kitchen, a walk-in pantry, and a laundry room located just off the kitchen with ample storage and sink for all laundry needs. In addition, there is a large basement that has overflow capability for whole house parties and doubles as a game room for guest.

Things that have drawn guests to Plainview are the many shopping experiences including locally owned boutiques and antique shops, fine restaurants, visiting local family, or touring Wayland Baptist University. Also located within an hour of Plainview is Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, as well as Palo Duro Canyon State Park located outside Canyon, TX. These are popular area attractions that guests are sure to enjoy.
Said to be the best kept secret on the Plains of Texas is our beloved Wayland Baptist University. Founded in 1908 by a medical doctor, James Henry Wayland, the university serves as the hub for just about everything in Plainview.
