In 1984 Mr Robert Patterson Grant a Merchant from Inverness, Scotland, purchased land in Pictou, Nova Scotia and caused to have a residence constructed that he named SEA BANK since it had an unobstructed view of Pictou Harbour.
This Mid-Victorian style residence has stained glass windows on both sides of the front entrance, above the front entrance and 2 inside the hall. All of the windows and casings were made of split pillar posts forming a peak at the top and the gable dormers had floral molding and exaggerated brackets. Mr Grant became President of the Pictou Bank and later was appointed Pilotage Authority for the District of Pictou. He was also Justice of the Peace and later became a member of the Senate of Canada. Senator Grant died (while in office) at 78 years. Mrs Annie Grant was sister to James W. Carmichael, of the ship building Carmichael family of New Glasgow.
Sea Bank was built on a hill, overlooking the then extremely busy harbour and railway of Pictou. Now a harmonious mix of historic charm and modern conveniences perfectly suited to the business of a BED & BREAKFAST. . Assorted room/bed sizes cater to a variety of budgets for guests from all over the world.
