Juniper Hill, 16 Elm Street, is a historic circa 1921 Federal Colonial Revival style home inspired by the Governor’s Palace in Williamsburg, VA. Ithaca, NY architect Clinton L. Vivian designed the house for William Biggs, a widely known Trumansburg, NY hardware merchant. Following careful renovations, Juniper Hill Bed & Breakfast opened its doors to guests in 2007.
We are a 5 room Bed and Breakfast on 4 private acres and within walking distance of the Village of Trumansburg, home to many eclectic shops, eateries and local golf course. The main floor of our BnB serves as a common relaxation and socializing area for our guests. Relax by the fire in the spacious front parlor, play games or read in the library, savor a creative 3 course breakfast in the sunny formal dining room or, during warmer seasons, in our tranquil sun porch with lovely views of the gardens. For your comfort, downstairs common areas are air conditioned during the warmer months.
Upon entry our center hall offers classic Federal detailing including extensive wood trim, multiple French doors and a dramatic staircase enhanced by the Palladian window, there to take you to your guest room. It also houses an extensive collection of early 20th century American Impressionist fine paintings throughout the house. All for sale to guests or public by appointment.
Juniper Hill’s bedrooms are all renovated preserving the original layout and detailing of the mansion. Each bedroom features hardwood floors, oriental carpets, rich fabrics, historic colors, original period art and a king or queen sized bed dressed in fine linens. The Cassatt and Sargent rooms have original fireplaces converted to gas. We have added heated electric fireplaces to the Benson and Hale rooms for your added comfort. The Perry Room has its own thermostat. In addition, The Cassatt Suite has a well accommodating sleeping porch (weather permitting). Guests can enjoy their own private baths with complimentary spa inspired amenities. All bathrooms have large windows, heated marble mosaic floors, subway/marble/glass tiles, and polished nickel fixtures reflecting the period.
Our BnB is conveniently located to Ithaca, Cornell University, Ithaca College, Watkins Glen, Cayuga and Seneca Lakes and respective wine trails, a myriad of state parks with gorges and waterfalls, several restaurants that offer fine dining and casual eating, unique shops, a number of museums and so much more...
