Vita Huset’s downtown location is a short walk to Newport’s restaurants, shopping, and the beautiful Lake Memphremagog. The Canadian border is only 6 miles to the north. Guests are treated to refinished floors, Oriental rugs, abundant lighting through windows restored to their century-old beauty, and open-air porches shaded by a historic red oak tree (the second largest on record in Vermont and the reason I fell in love with this house!) All apartments are currently self-catering, equipped with basic kitchens but you could modify the business to include bed and breakfast (while still keeping your distance!) Linens are provided. Free Wifi and on-site parking is available, in addition to a common, complimentary laundry room in the basement.
