History of Heritage Sunday House:

Originally the “Washington House”, Heritage Sunday House was built in 1914 by the Sander family, which was originally located on property south of Brenham. In August of 2003 this beautifully appointed farmhouse was moved to Burton and nestled close to the historic Knittle Homestead. The Heritage Sunday House features five guest rooms, each with private ensuite baths, a newly added kitchen includes a dining nook , a wonderful wrap around porch to relax and take in the quiet local charm, and a beautiful outdoor patio with tables, chairs & and umbrellas to enjoy a pleasant dining experience. Stroll across the street to dine at the Brazos Belle on country French cuisine, to the Blue Willow Café for farm to table fare, or to the newly opened Los Patrones for cool margarita and some Tex Mex. You are also just walking distance to other great antique shops, The White Horse Tavern for even more food & live music and the town is always a bustle with many local hometown special events.

The History of the original “Community Hall” now the Owner’s Residence:

The Community Hall which was built after WWI and was used as the Martin-Louis Post No. 242, American Legion Hall of Burton. It was organized on July 23, 1920 by the World War I Veterans Herbert Neinstedt, Alex C. Schwartz, Carl N. Rothermel, E. Nitschke, Ernest F. Brinkmann, Edwin T. Kuehn, Alex R. Hartstack, Chas H Kramer and William O. Neumann. The Burton Lions Club moved the building to its present location in 1985 where it was preserved and adapted for use as a commercial facility.
